NAMI Connection LGBTQIA+ Support Group (Minneapolis, MN)
About This Group
The NAMI Connection LGBTQIA+ Support Group is a specialized peer-led group serving LGBTQIA+ community members living with mental illness in the Twin Cities area. Meeting at the Quatrefoil Library — a community library celebrating queer literature and culture — this group provides an affirming, intersectional space where participants can address mental health challenges within a supportive LGBTQ+ community context.
What to Expect
Bimonthly meetings provide a safe space specifically designed for LGBTQIA+ individuals to discuss mental health challenges, share coping strategies, and support one another’s recovery. The group acknowledges the unique stressors that LGBTQ+ individuals face, including minority stress, discrimination, family rejection, and identity-related challenges that can compound mental health conditions. Facilitators are trained NAMI peers who understand both mental health recovery and LGBTQ+ experiences.
