These groups are run by licensed clinicians: therapists, psychologists, clinical social workers, and counselors. They are treatment, not just support. Most have a screening call before you join, meet on a set schedule, and work from a method such as CBT, DBT, or interpersonal process. This page shows only clinician-led groups.

What makes a group clinician-led
The facilitator holds a license to practice, which means a code of ethics, supervision requirements, and someone to answer to. The group has a clinical purpose: learning skills, processing something specific, or working through patterns with other people in the room. Group therapy is also one of the few forms of treatment where the other members are part of the method, not an audience.
- Skills groups: CBT, DBT, mindfulness-based programs, usually a set number of weeks
- Process groups: ongoing, interpersonal, a smaller fixed membership
- Diagnosis-specific groups: trauma, OCD, eating disorders, mood disorders
- Intensive outpatient and partial programs that meet several times a week
What happens before you join
Expect a short intake or screening call. The clinician is checking fit, not judging you: whether the group matches what you need, whether the timing works, and whether you would be better served somewhere else first. Each listing on this page says how to start, and how long that usually takes.
Cost and insurance
Clinician-led groups range from free to a per-session fee. Some take insurance, some offer a sliding scale, and some are self-pay. The listing shows the cost and any insurance notes the provider gave. Use the cost filter if you need a free or sliding-scale option; there are dozens in the directory.
Looking for something else?
Peer-led groups, run by people with lived experience rather than clinicians, are under support groups. Groups built around connection and shared interests are on the community groups page. One-time and short-run offerings are under events and workshops.
Clinician running a group?
Your first listing is free as a founding member, and the listing builder writes most of it from your website or a flyer. Seekers on this page have already decided they want a clinician-led group; a complete listing is what gets the call.
