Free Nar-Anon Family Peer Support — Indiana | Midwest Region

Nar-Anon Family Groups in Indiana, coordinated through the Nar-Anon Midwest Region, offer free peer support meetings for the family members and friends of people struggling with addiction. When someone you love suffers from addiction, the impact on the household is very real — and Nar-Anon exists so you do not have to carry it alone. Members come together to learn a different way to live, whether or not the addicted person ever seeks help.

What to Expect

Nar-Anon is a Twelve Step program adapted for families and friends of addicts. Meetings are confidential and peer-led: members share experience, strength, and hope, and newcomers are welcome to simply listen. Indiana meetings are listed by state and metro area on the Midwest Region website, and some groups also meet virtually, making it possible to attend from anywhere in the state. The region also maintains a calendar of conference calls, conventions, and other activities, plus resources on working the Steps and sponsorship for members who want to go deeper.

Who This Group Is For

Nar-Anon is for anyone affected by another person’s drug use — parents, spouses and partners, adult children, siblings, grandparents, and close friends. Many members arrive in crisis; others come years into a loved one’s addiction or recovery. All are welcome, and no one is required to share details they are not ready to discuss.

Why Peer Support Works

Loving someone in active addiction often means fear, sleepless nights, financial strain, and a slow erosion of your own wellbeing. Sitting with others who genuinely understand — because they have lived it — reduces isolation and helps members set boundaries, release what they cannot control, and rebuild their own lives. The shared wisdom of a Twelve Step fellowship gives families practical tools alongside emotional support.
