Free Domestic Violence Support Groups - Oakland County, MI | HAVEN
HAVEN is Oakland County’s comprehensive resource for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and it offers a wide range of free support groups for survivors ready to heal in community. For people rebuilding their lives after abuse in the Pontiac and greater Oakland County area, HAVEN’s groups provide steady, ongoing support at no cost.
What to Expect
HAVEN runs a variety of groups, including ongoing weekly support groups for survivors of domestic violence that meet for about an hour and a half. Alongside these are specialized groups such as WAVE (Women Against Violent Encounters), an emotions-management group, groups for adult survivors of childhood sexual assault, teen women’s support, and sexual assault survivor support. Throughout the year HAVEN also hosts creative healing workshops and parenting and children’s groups. Sessions are led by trained staff who create a safe, confidential environment.
Who This Group Is For
These groups serve survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Oakland County, with dedicated offerings for adults, teens, and adult survivors of childhood abuse. Whether an experience is recent or years in the past, survivors are welcome to find the group that fits their needs.
Why Peer Support Works
Healing rarely happens alone. In a survivor support group, members discover that their reactions are normal responses to abnormal circumstances, and they gain encouragement from people walking a similar path. This shared understanding eases isolation, restores a sense of self-worth, and builds practical skills for safety and recovery.
How to Join
HAVEN’s support groups are free. For current offerings, meeting times, and to register, contact HAVEN at 248-334-1274. Advocates can help match you to the right group and answer questions before you attend.
