Free Domestic Violence Support Groups - Kalamazoo, MI | YWCA

YWCA Kalamazoo has supported survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking for generations, and its Victim Services program includes free support groups where survivors heal together. For anyone in the Kalamazoo area seeking connection and understanding after abuse, these groups offer a welcoming, no-cost space.

What to Expect
YWCA Kalamazoo offers a variety of free support groups for survivors of both domestic violence and sexual assault, held in English and Spanish. Groups meet at the YWCA of Kalamazoo, 353 East Michigan Avenue, and are facilitated by trained advocates and counselors. Childcare is available for all meetings, removing a common barrier to participation – simply contact an advocate to arrange it. Alongside groups, survivors can access free one-on-one counseling and victim advocacy.

Who This Group Is For
These groups are open to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking in the Kalamazoo community. Bilingual English and Spanish options make the groups accessible to more survivors, and childcare support welcomes parents who might otherwise be unable to attend.

Why Peer Support Works
Survivors often carry shame and self-blame that keep them silent. In a facilitated survivor group, hearing others name similar experiences breaks that silence and replaces it with validation and hope. Shared support strengthens coping skills, rebuilds confidence, and helps survivors move toward lives free of violence.

How to Join
YWCA Kalamazoo’s support groups and counseling are free. To learn about current groups and get connected, call the office at 269-345-5595, or reach the 24-hour crisis line at 269-385-3587. An advocate can help you find the right group and arrange childcare.
