Free CoDA Codependency Peer Support — Online & Nationwide
Co-Dependents Anonymous (CoDA) is a 12-step fellowship of people whose primary purpose is to develop healthy and loving relationships. Codependency is the pattern of relying excessively on other people for approval and identity — and CoDA gives people a structured peer program to recognize and recover from those patterns.
What to Expect
Confidential one-hour meetings where members share their experience working the 12 steps adapted for codependent recovery. CoDA does not offer a formal diagnostic definition of codependence — instead it offers a set of characteristic attitudes and behaviors (control patterns, denial patterns, avoidance patterns, low self-esteem patterns, compliance patterns) drawn from members’ own experiences. Newcomers are welcome at any meeting.
Meeting Formats
In-person meetings throughout the US and internationally. Online meetings via Zoom available across all time zones. Phone meetings for members who prefer audio-only. Step Study meetings for members working systematically through the program. Spanish-language meetings nationwide.
Who This Group Is For
Anyone whose primary desire is to develop healthy and loving relationships. CoDA is for people who recognize codependent patterns — caretaking, people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, fear of abandonment, fixing or rescuing — and want to work through them with a peer community. Members come from many backgrounds: adult children of alcoholics, former or current partners of people with addictions, people in unhealthy work relationships, and people recovering from family-of-origin dynamics that taught codependent patterns.
Why Peer Support Works
Codependent patterns are difficult to see from inside, especially because the person living them often appears “helpful” or “selfless” from the outside. Peer feedback in a structured program lets members notice the patterns, name them, and try new behaviors with a community of people working on the same thing.
