Free Black Men's Peer Circle — Denver | Barbershop Talks

Barbershop Talks, a program of the Center for African American Health (CAA Health), is a free, culturally rooted space where Black men — both youth and adults — come together for honest, meaningful conversation. Modeled on the barbershop as a longstanding place of connection in the Black community, the program offers a safe and structured environment where men can share their experiences, values, and perspectives.

What to Expect
Barbershop Talks brings men together for facilitated, discussion-based gatherings centered on authentic dialogue. Rather than a lecture or a clinical group, it’s a space to connect, grow, and learn from one another — talking through everyday pressures, family and community, identity, and well-being. The emphasis is on building lasting bonds and a genuine sense of community. CAA Health offers the program at no cost as part of its broader mission to help the Black community live well.

Who This Group Is For
This program welcomes Black youth and adult men across metro Denver who want a supportive, judgment-free space among peers. Whether you’re looking to strengthen connections, talk through what’s on your mind, or simply be in community with other men who understand your experience, you’re welcome here.

Why Peer Support Works
Men — and Black men in particular — are too often expected to carry stress in silence. A peer space built on shared culture and lived experience makes it easier to open up, lowers stigma around emotional well-being, and turns isolation into connection. Talking with peers who understand the realities of your life can be a first, powerful step toward support, and it builds a community you can lean on over time.
