Free Healing Circles for Youth — Denver | Homies Unidos
Homies Unidos Denver is a locally rooted 501(c)(3) nonprofit working alongside young people affected by community violence, gang involvement, and trauma. Its Healing Circles are free, community-based group spaces where youth and young adults — primarily ages 13 to 24 — come together to process what they’ve lived through, build resilience, and reconnect with their cultural identity.
What to Expect
Healing Circles draw on traditional cultural practices and values to create a safe, supportive space for open group discussion. Led by trained facilitators, circles invite participants to explore their experiences, emotions, and heritage among peers who understand. Conversations are confidential and non-judgmental, and the goal is connection — helping each person feel seen, build self-esteem, and find healthier paths forward. Circles are one part of Homies Unidos Denver’s broader work, which also includes mentoring, character development, and community outreach.
Who This Group Is For
The circles are designed for young people, roughly ages 13 to 24, who are navigating the effects of violence, trauma, or gang involvement — and for youth who simply need a grounded community of peers and mentors. Young people of color and Latinx youth will find a space that honors their culture and lived experience. Everyone is welcome.
Why Peer Support Works
For young people who have experienced trauma, being surrounded by peers who share similar backgrounds can be transformative. Peer-based healing circles reduce isolation and stigma, making it easier to speak honestly about hard things. Rooted in cultural identity and mutual respect, this approach helps interrupt cycles of violence, rebuild trust, and remind participants that they are not alone.
