SOS Suicide Loss Support Group – Connecticut
About This Group
The SOS (Survivors of Suicide) Loss Support Group provides peer-facilitated support for individuals who have experienced the death of a loved one to suicide. Part of the Mental Health Association’s aftercare services, these groups meet twice monthly and offer both in-person and virtual attendance options.
What to Expect
Groups are facilitated by trained peer facilitators who are themselves suicide loss survivors. Sessions provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for processing the complex emotions of suicide bereavement. Participants share at their own pace and comfort level. The group normalizes grief reactions and provides mutual support through the unique challenges of suicide loss.
About SOS Support Groups
SOS support groups are part of the broader network of suicide loss survivor services provided by mental health associations and suicide prevention organizations. These groups fill a critical need for specialized bereavement support, as suicide loss often involves grief complicated by guilt, stigma, and confusion that general bereavement groups may not fully address.
