Intermountain Health – Grief Support Classes (Statewide, UT)
About Intermountain Health Grief Support
Intermountain Health (formerly Intermountain Healthcare), Utah’s largest healthcare system, offers grief support classes and bereavement groups at multiple facilities throughout the state. These professionally facilitated groups help adults who are grieving the loss of a loved one process their emotions, learn coping strategies, and connect with others who understand the grief journey. Groups are led by licensed social workers, chaplains, and bereavement specialists within the Intermountain system.
What Groups Are Offered?
Intermountain offers both ongoing and session-based grief support groups at hospitals and community health centers across Utah. Groups address various types of loss, including spouse/partner loss, parent loss, child loss, and sudden or traumatic death. Some locations offer specialized groups such as suicide loss survivors, perinatal loss support, and holiday grief workshops. Facilitators use evidence-based approaches to help participants understand the grieving process and develop healthy coping strategies.
Who Can Join?
Grief support classes are open to any adult in the community who has experienced the death of a loved one. You do not need to be an Intermountain patient to attend. Groups are available regardless of when the loss occurred—whether recent or years ago. No referral or registration fee is required, though pre-registration may be recommended for some groups due to capacity.
Meeting Schedule & Location
Grief support groups are offered at multiple Intermountain facilities throughout Utah, including locations in Salt Lake City, Murray, Ogden, Provo, St. George, and other communities. Meeting schedules vary by location—some groups meet weekly while others run in multi-week sessions. A calendar of current offerings is available on the Intermountain Health website.
