Free Grief Support for Children & Teens — Framingham, MA | Jeff's Place
Jeff’s Place is a nonprofit children’s bereavement center serving families in the Framingham and Wayland area of Massachusetts. It provides free, peer-based support groups for grieving children, teens, and their caregivers so that no young person has to face the death of a loved one alone. Families find a steady, welcoming community where grief is understood and no one is rushed through it.
What to Expect
Peer support groups bring together children and teens (roughly ages 3-19) who have experienced the death of someone important to them, while caregivers meet in a parallel group. Sessions are facilitated by professionally trained volunteers and monitored by a licensed clinician. Children share through conversation, art, and play, and families often describe the experience as a place where they can finally exhale among people who understand.
Who This Group Is For
The groups welcome grieving children, teens, and the adults who care for them, regardless of when or how the death occurred. Families of all backgrounds are welcome, and there is no cost to attend.
Why Peer Support Works
Young people grieving a death often feel set apart from friends who have not experienced loss. Being among peers who share that reality eases isolation and helps children understand that their feelings are normal. The caregiver group runs alongside so that the whole family is supported at once, strengthening the connections that help families heal together.
How to Join
Participation is free. To learn about current groups and begin the enrollment process, visit Jeff’s Place online at jeffsplace.org. Staff will help connect your family with an appropriate group and answer any questions.
