TransLatin@ Coalition — Free Trans Latine/x Peer Support & Community
The TransLatin@ Coalition (TLC) is a national organization founded in 2009 by trans, gender-nonconforming, and intersex (TGI) immigrant women in Los Angeles to address the specific needs of TGI Latin@ immigrants in the United States. TLC has grown into a nationally recognized organization with representation in 10+ states, providing direct services in Los Angeles and movement-building, advocacy, and peer community work nationally — all rooted in the lived experience of TGI Latine/x people themselves.
What to Expect
TLC’s services include peer support, case management, immigration legal services, housing support, employment readiness, HIV services, and community programming for TGI Latine/x folks in Los Angeles, plus a national network of TGI Latine/x leaders, advocates, and community members. Peer-led groups offer ongoing connection in Spanish and English, including specific groups for TGI immigrant women, TGI youth, TGI elders, and family members. TLC’s annual Trans, Liberated, and Connected gathering convenes the national TGI Latine/x community for peer connection, healing, and leadership development.
Who This Group Is For
TLC serves trans, gender-nonconforming, and intersex Latine/x people across the U.S. — with particular focus on TGI Latine/x immigrants, who face overlapping pressures from gender-based violence, immigration enforcement, and economic precarity. Members include people newly out as TGI, longtime community members, immigrants navigating documentation, Spanish-dominant speakers, English-dominant speakers, and family members supporting TGI loved ones. The organization’s leadership and staff are themselves TGI Latine/x, ensuring services are grounded in lived experience.
Why Peer Support Works
TGI Latine/x folks face documented mental health, safety, and economic disparities — and have often been failed by both mainstream LGBTQ+ services that don’t address immigration and language and by mainstream Latine/x services that don’t address TGI experience. TLC was founded precisely to fill that gap: peer community, services, and advocacy by and for the people most affected. Members consistently describe TLC as the first place they felt their full identity was held with care.
