The McClean Fletcher Center – Children's Grief Support (Jackson, MS)
About This Group
The McClean Fletcher Center is Mississippi’s first and only grief support program specifically designed for children and teens ages 4-18 who have lost a loved one. This free program provides age-appropriate bereavement support through a combination of discussions, art, music, games, and journaling, with separate groups for adult caregivers running concurrently.
What to Expect
Bi-weekly sessions are organized by age group to ensure developmentally appropriate support. Children express and process their grief through creative activities including art projects, music, games, and journaling. Teen groups offer more discussion-oriented sessions. A meal is provided at each meeting, creating a warm, family-like atmosphere. Concurrent adult caregiver groups ensure that the whole family receives support. Trained facilitators create a safe, nurturing environment where children can be themselves.
About The McClean Fletcher Center
As Mississippi’s only dedicated grief center for children, The McClean Fletcher Center fills a critical gap in bereavement services for the state’s youngest and most vulnerable grieving population. Their mission is to ensure that no child in Mississippi grieves alone.
