NYSCRC — Free Caregiver Support — Statewide New York

Enrolling now

The New York State Caregiving and Respite Coalition (NYS CRC) partners with statewide organizations and dedicated individuals to give New York family caregivers access to information, training, respite, and peer support. As the state’s primary caregiver coalition, NYS CRC anchors a network of local Caregiving and Respite chapters, hosts statewide caregiver events, and maintains directories that point caregivers to free support groups in their communities.

What to Expect

NYS CRC’s role is part network, part services provider. The Coalition supports local chapters that offer Powerful Tools for Caregivers — an evidence-based six-week series that combines education with peer connection — and works with partner organizations to provide caregiver retreats, respite voucher programs, and ongoing peer support groups. Caregivers can use the Coalition’s site to find local services, register for statewide caregiver events and trainings, and connect with the Coalition’s lead organization for personal guidance. Many partner groups meet in person across the state and virtually for caregivers who prefer or need to attend by video.

Who This Group Is For

NYS CRC serves family caregivers across all of New York State — Western New York, the Finger Lakes, Central New York, the Southern Tier, the Hudson Valley, NYC, Long Island, the North Country, and the Adirondacks. Members include adult children, spouses, partners, siblings, grandchildren, and friends caring for an older adult or person with a disability. The Coalition’s network model means caregivers can plug into a local chapter while also drawing on statewide resources and events.

Why Peer Support Works

Caregiving in a state as large and varied as New York looks different in every region. The Coalition’s network approach honors that variation while making sure caregivers everywhere can access the same evidence-based programs and community. Peer support — whether through a local Powerful Tools cohort, a partner-led support group, or a statewide caregiver retreat — gives caregivers a place to be honest about the work, learn from others further along the road, and feel less alone in carrying the role.

How to Join

All NYS CRC core services are free. To find a local chapter, register for caregiver events, or learn about respite vouchers, visit the NYS Caregiving and Respite Coalition site or call (585) 287-6393. Staff will connect caregivers with local Powerful Tools cohorts, partner-led support groups, and statewide programming.
