Free Myotonic Dystrophy Support Group - Colorado | MDF Mountain West
About This Group
The Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation (MDF) supports people with myotonic dystrophy (DM), a genetic form of muscular dystrophy that can affect muscles, the heart, and other body systems. MDF’s Mountain West Regional Support Group covers Colorado along with Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming, and has been meeting since 2015.
Ways to Find Support
The Mountain West group is led by volunteer Support Group Facilitator Kathie Thorsland, herself a longtime member of the group and a Denver, Colorado resident. Facilitators are trained volunteers, not medical professionals, and create a confidential space for people with DM1 or DM2 and their caregivers to connect. MDF also offers a professionally staffed Warmline for one-on-one support at any time.
Who This Is For
Adults with DM1 or DM2 and their caregivers, anywhere in Colorado or the wider Mountain West region.
How to Join
Contact MDF at info@myotonic.org or 415-800-7777 to be connected with the Mountain West group’s current meeting schedule. For more free options, see the Colorado support groups directory on The Group Guide.
