Grief Care Groups & Workshops - Gilchrist - Free, Greater Baltimore

Gilchrist, Greater Baltimore’s nonprofit leader in serious illness and end-of-life care, extends its counseling and support program to the whole community. Because each person copes with grief in a very personal and unique way, Gilchrist offers its grief services free of charge — helping you explore, understand, and express the grief that is exclusively yours.

What to Expect

Gilchrist’s grief care includes support groups and workshops, community education, and remembrance events, delivered by a compassionate counseling team experienced in loss of every kind. Specialized programs reflect the communities Gilchrist serves, including dedicated veterans support and a Jewish care and support program. If you’re not sure what kind of support fits, Gilchrist’s care navigators will talk it through with you and connect you to the right resource.

Who This Group Is For

Adults and families in the Greater Baltimore region grieving a death — whether or not your loved one received Gilchrist’s hospice care. Groups and workshops cycle through the year; the current schedule is posted under grief care on Gilchrist’s site.

Why Peer Support Works

Grief rarely follows the timeline the world expects. A grief group offers a setting where nobody checks a watch — where workshops teach coping skills, remembrance events honor the person you lost, and other grievers normalize the long middle of mourning. Free access matters too: cost should never decide who gets to heal.

How to Join

Call Gilchrist’s care navigators at 888-823-8880 to ask about current groups and workshops, or request grief support through gilchristcares.org/services/grief-care. All grief services are offered free of charge.
