Horizon Grief Resource Center is Wisconsin’s only walk-in grief counseling center — a free resource of Horizon Home Care and Hospice serving Milwaukee-area community members grieving the death of a loved one. Open to community members regardless of whether they used Horizon Home Care services, the Center offers free peer support groups, walk-in grief counseling, educational programming, and an ongoing community of grieving people supporting each other.
What to Expect
Horizon offers free walk-in grief counseling — meaning grieving community members can come in for a session without an appointment during published walk-in hours. Free peer grief support groups meet on a regular schedule and address specific kinds of loss including spousal loss, child loss, parent loss, sibling loss, suicide loss, sudden loss, and grief during the holidays. Group meetings are facilitated by trained grief counselors and follow a confidential peer-driven format. The Resource Center also publishes educational materials, hosts annual remembrance events, and connects grieving families with additional resources across Milwaukee.
Who This Group Is For
Horizon Grief Resource Center welcomes anyone grieving the death of a loved one — including community members whose loved one didn’t receive Horizon hospice care. Members come from across Milwaukee, Waukesha, and surrounding counties. The walk-in model is particularly valuable for community members who can’t commit to an ongoing schedule or who don’t yet know what kind of support they need.
