Free Virtual DV Survivor Support — Atlanta, GA | WRC

The Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence (WRC) runs a free Virtual SISTERs Group for survivors of domestic and sexual violence across the Atlanta, Georgia area. WRC is an LGBTQ+ affirming agency, and every group they run is facilitated in a safe, confidential setting at no cost to participants. The SISTERs Group meets weekly on Zoom and covers general survivor support — including financial literacy and wellness topics — alongside the emotional processing at the center of any peer support space.

What to Expect
The Virtual SISTERs Group meets every Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:00 PM and is led by WRC advocates who specialize in supporting survivors without judgment. Beyond emotional support, sessions often touch on practical rebuilding — financial literacy, wellness practices, and the kind of day-to-day skills that get sidelined during a crisis but matter enormously once someone is working toward stability. WRC also runs a separate Parenting from Your Center group on Wednesdays and a Saturday Domestic Violence Support Group, so there are multiple entry points depending on your schedule.

Who This Group Is For
This group is open to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and WRC explicitly welcomes people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. You don’t need to have filed a police report, left your relationship, or be in crisis to participate — WRC’s advocates meet people wherever they are in their process, offering options and support rather than directives.

Why Peer Support Works
Survivors often say the hardest part isn’t a single incident — it’s the ongoing sense that no one else could understand what daily life inside an abusive relationship actually felt like. A virtual format lowers the barrier to attending consistently, especially for people managing work, childcare, or safety concerns around being seen at an in-person location. Connecting weekly with advocates and peers who don’t need the situation explained from scratch can be a genuine relief.

How to Join
The group is free and open to anyone in need. To learn more or join, email Barbara Gibson at barbara@wrcdv.org or call WRC’s community office at (404) 370-7670. If you’re in immediate danger, WRC’s 24/7 domestic violence hotline is (404) 688-9436.
