Free Veteran Peer Meetings - Minnesota | Eagle Group
The Eagle Group of Minnesota Veterans is a volunteer-led nonprofit providing mutual support for military members, veterans, and their families as they navigate the transition to civilian life, leadership, and community. Established in 2010, Eagle Group organizes its work around regular peer meetings, mentorship, and career resources, with a stated spirit of camaraderie rather than service delivery.
What to Expect
Eagle Group runs both a Weekly Meeting and a Monthly Meeting, giving veterans a consistent place to connect, learn, and support one another. Meetings are structured so participants can share experiences, exchange career advice, build professional networks, learn from guest speakers, and encourage one another. The Accountability Ally Program pairs veterans with a partner who helps them stay focused on personal and professional goals — setting realistic targets, following through on commitments, preparing for interviews, and building confidence. Career Track and Career Track Watch and Learn help veterans build resumes, improve interview skills, translate military experience into civilian terms, and understand civilian workplace expectations. Eagle Group also connects veterans to outside resources including County Veterans Service Officers, the Minnesota Military and Veteran’s Exchange, MACV, DEED, and Beyond the Yellow Ribbon. Current meeting times and locations are posted on the Weekly Meeting and Monthly Meeting pages of the Eagle Group website.
Who This Group Is For
Military members, veterans, and their families in Minnesota — particularly those in or approaching the transition to civilian life, those looking for work or a career change, and those who want to stay connected to a veteran community after service ends. Family members are explicitly included in the mission.
Why Peer Support Works
Leaving the military means losing a built-in network at exactly the moment you most need one. Veterans often arrive in civilian workplaces with strong leadership and problem-solving experience but no ready way to translate it, and few colleagues who understand where it came from. Peers close both gaps at once: trust forms quickly among people who share the background, which makes honest conversation about career setbacks or personal struggle possible sooner. The accountability pairing adds structure that a monthly meeting alone cannot — someone who notices whether you followed through, which for most people is the difference between a plan and a result.
