Free Survivor Support Groups (Virtual) — Merrimack Co, NH | Thrive
Thrive Survivor Support Center has served survivors in Merrimack County, New Hampshire since 1978. Alongside its 24/7 hotline and advocacy, Thrive offers an ongoing, virtual support group for adults who have experienced domestic and/or sexual violence and are working on healing from trauma. All Thrive services are described as free and confidential.
What to Expect
The group is advocate-led and peer-based, meeting online so members can take part from home. Sessions focus on practical topics such as understanding trauma triggers, building healthy boundaries, and self-care. Participation is voluntary. Thrive also occasionally offers additional multi-week groups, such as expressive art, yoga, and financial literacy, with volunteer support. Meeting days and times are not listed publicly, so you will get the current schedule when you complete screening.
Who This Group Is For
The group is for survivors age 18 or older who have experienced domestic and/or sexual violence. Thrive serves victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, elder abuse, stalking, human trafficking, and child abuse. If you are not sure whether the group fits your situation, the advocates on the hotline can talk it through with you.
Why Peer Support Works
Many survivors say one of the hardest parts of healing is feeling alone with what happened. Hearing others describe similar experiences can reduce isolation and self-blame, and sharing coping strategies in a structured, advocate-led space gives members tools they can use between sessions. Peer support does not replace individual counseling or crisis services, but it can be a steady, low-pressure part of a recovery plan.
How to Join
Joining starts with a short screening. Call Thrive’s hotline at 866-841-6229 (available 24/7; screening calls are handled Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) to complete it. There is no cost to take part. Thrive’s service area is Merrimack County, so ask about eligibility if you live elsewhere in New Hampshire. More information: thrivenh.org/services.
