Free New Mom Support Group — St. Louis | Missouri Baptist

Moms’ MoBap Morning is a free weekly gathering at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in west St. Louis County where new mothers bring their babies, sit down with other moms, and talk honestly about the early weeks of motherhood. More than an infant-care class, it is a relaxed support group designed to boost confidence, build skills and ease the loneliness that can settle in once the visitors stop coming and the nights get long. Each session is led by an experienced pre- and postnatal educator who answers questions as they come up.

What to Expect

The group meets every Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:30 AM in Building D, Suite 400 (fourth floor) on the Missouri Baptist campus, with free valet or garage parking at the North Entry. Moms arrive with their babies and settle in; the educator opens a conversation on a topic like newborn sleep, feeding, fussiness or adjusting to life with a new baby, and the rest of the time is moms meeting and mingling. Nobody is put on the spot, and it is fine to nurse, change a diaper or step out with a crying baby mid-session. Because it is a rolling group with no start or end date, you can jump in at any point and come back as often as you like. For everyone’s safety, the setup is geared toward younger, non-mobile infants; moms are invited to attend until their baby begins crawling or walking.

Who This Group Is For

This group is for any mother in the St. Louis area with a new baby, whether or not she delivered at Missouri Baptist. It suits first-time moms who want reassurance that what they are seeing is normal, experienced moms navigating a very different newborn, and anyone who simply wants adult company and other parents who understand. Moms are welcome from the first weeks home through the pre-crawling months.

Why Peer Support Works

The weeks after birth are a period of enormous physical, hormonal and emotional change, and isolation is one of the strongest predictors of postpartum depression and anxiety. A standing weekly place to go, with an educator on hand to normalize the hard parts and other moms who are living the same schedule, lowers stress, catches worries early and connects families to more help when they need it. Groups like this one are consistently among the supports new mothers say made the biggest difference.
