Olivia’s Club House — Free Children & Family Grief Peer Support — Sacramento
Olivia’s Club House is a free, peer-led grief support program for children, teens, young adults, and their families who are navigating the loss of a loved one. Hosted by the Olivia Chan Foundation, a Sacramento-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Olivia’s Club House gathers every other Monday evening at Greenhaven Neighborhood Church in Sacramento, California. Though held in a church, the program is entirely nondenominational and open to everyone — all backgrounds, beliefs, and identities are welcome. The foundation’s mission is rooted in a simple and powerful truth: no one should have to grieve alone.
What to Expect
Each session runs from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on alternating Mondays. These gatherings are designed as peer connection and support meetings — not therapy or clinical counseling — where participants are invited to share their stories, listen to others, and practice healthy coping strategies together. Facilitators hold a warm and non-judgmental space throughout each session. Families can attend as long as they need, with no timeline or pressure to move through grief on anyone else’s schedule. There is no right or wrong way to grieve, and every experience is honored here.
Who This Group Is For
Olivia’s Club House welcomes grieving children, teens, young adults, and their families. Whether the loss is a parent, sibling, grandparent, friend, or another significant person, the group provides a space to process that grief alongside peers who genuinely understand what it feels like. The program is inclusive and welcoming to all — regardless of age, background, cultural identity, or religious affiliation.
Why Peer Support Works
Research on grief and bereavement consistently demonstrates that peer-based support programs — where individuals connect with others who have experienced similar losses — reduce isolation, improve emotional processing, and build lasting coping capacity. For children and teens especially, knowing that another young person understands the weight of loss can be profoundly healing. Olivia’s Club House provides exactly that environment: a space to be seen, heard, and held by a community that truly understands.
How to Join
Olivia’s Club House is completely free of charge, supported entirely by community donations to the Olivia Chan Foundation.
