Switchboard / 211 Miami — Free 24/7 Crisis Counseling — Miami-Dade

Enrolling now

211 Miami (operated by Switchboard of Miami) is Miami-Dade County’s confidential 24/7 helpline connecting community members in need with resources, crisis counseling, and ongoing peer support. The line is staffed continuously in English, Spanish, and Creole — reflecting the linguistic reality of Miami-Dade — and serves as a primary entry point for mental health crisis support, domestic violence assistance, homelessness services, and the broader social safety net across the county.

What to Expect

Callers to 211 Miami connect with trained crisis counselors who provide immediate emotional support, suicide prevention, and warm-handoff connection to local services. The line is part of the national 211 network but locally staffed and locally informed — counselors know Miami-Dade providers, programs, and community resources from the inside. Beyond crisis calls, 211 Miami runs the Reassurance Program (regular check-in calls for older adults and isolated community members), specialized helplines for domestic violence and human trafficking texting, and ongoing community education.

Who This Group Is For

211 Miami serves all Miami-Dade County residents — across language, immigration status, and life circumstance. Callers include people in immediate crisis, families seeking resources, people navigating homelessness or housing instability, survivors of violence, isolated older adults, people supporting loved ones, and anyone needing a thoughtful conversation about local resources. The trilingual structure (English, Spanish, Creole) makes the line accessible to a county that’s one of the most linguistically diverse in the country.

Why Peer Support Works

For Miami-Dade residents in crisis, having a 24/7 line staffed by people who know the local landscape is foundational to actually accessing help. National lines can refer; 211 Miami counselors directly know the providers, can advocate to systems, and follow up. The reassurance program adds an ongoing peer-style connection for older adults and others at risk of isolation — gentle weekly check-ins that often catch problems before they become crises.
