About This Group
The Colorado Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) is a nonprofit organization that has been serving Colorado communities for over a century. As part of their comprehensive end-of-life and palliative care services, Colorado VNA offers grief support groups throughout the state for anyone who has experienced the death of a loved one. These groups provide a compassionate, professional environment where people can process their grief, learn about the grieving process, and find comfort in the company of others who understand their pain.
What to Expect
Colorado VNA grief support groups are facilitated by trained bereavement counselors and meet regularly at locations across the state. Groups are structured to provide both education about grief (what is normal, how grief changes over time, coping strategies) and peer support (sharing stories, listening, and building connection). Sessions are small and confidential, creating a safe space for honest, vulnerable conversation. Some groups are general bereavement support, while others focus on specific types of loss such as spousal loss, parent loss, or sudden/traumatic death. The VNA also offers individual grief counseling.
Who It’s For
Anyone who has experienced the death of a loved one, regardless of how the death occurred or how much time has passed. VNA grief support is open to the public — you do not need to have been a VNA patient or family member.
