AMHP — Free Asian American Mental Health Peer Groups

Nationwide
Enrolling now

Asian Mental Health Project (AMHP) provides educational resources and community care initiatives that make mental health more accessible and approachable for the Pan-Asian community. AMHP runs free year-round virtual peer wellness groups, hosts community events and workshops, provides mental health assistance grants, and matches community members with culturally affirming therapists. The organization is particularly known for the breadth and intentionality of its affinity-based peer groups.

What to Expect

AMHP’s Peer Wellness Groups are free, year-round virtual gatherings led by professionals and peers with lived experience. Current groups include Proud Asian Men, Asian Women & Femmes Wellness Group, Asian Adoptee Empowerment Circle, Shikor (Roots) — Pan-Asian Caregivers & Providers, Queer Asian Mental Health Club, and the Palestinian Affinity Group. AMHP also runs Stay In, Check-In — a weekly wellness circle where community members learn from educators in mental health and wellness while processing current events. Beyond groups, AMHP hosts free community events, panels, and educational programming year-round.

Who This Group Is For

AMHP serves the Pan-Asian community broadly — including East Asian, Southeast Asian, South Asian, Central Asian, Pacific Islander, Asian adoptees, mixed-race Asians, and Asian-descent folks of all backgrounds. The affinity-based group structure means members can find a space organized around their specific identity and experience — Asian men, Asian women and femmes, Asian adoptees, Queer Asian folks, caregivers, and providers. AMHP also explicitly includes Palestinian community members through a dedicated affinity group.

Why Peer Support Works

The Pan-Asian community contains enormous diversity, and the experience of being Asian in America varies dramatically by sub-community, generation, gender identity, queerness, and adoption status. AMHP’s affinity-based groups answer that diversity by giving members a peer space where their specific experience is the norm. Over time, the groups become a steady community of Asian folks who understand without translation — a quietly transformative experience.

How to Join

AMHP’s Peer Wellness Groups and most resources are free.
