Alliance of Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing 24/7 healing support for people who have lost loved ones to suicide. Founded by Ronnie Walker, a clinical mental health counselor and suicide loss survivor herself, Alliance of Hope runs one of the largest online communities specifically for suicide loss survivors — a moderated forum where thousands of survivors come together to exchange information, understanding, and hope, anytime day or night.

What to Expect

The Alliance of Hope online forum is asynchronous, meaning members post and respond at their own pace — there’s no scheduled meeting time. The forum is moderated by a mental health counselor and a team of trained moderators who keep the space safe and supportive. Members can post in subforums organized by relationship (parents, partners, siblings, adult children, friends), by stage of grief, or by topic — including holidays, anniversaries, and specific circumstances of loss. Beyond the forum, Alliance of Hope offers educational webinars, a blog with reflections from survivors and clinicians, and resource pages that point survivors to ongoing in-person and virtual support groups.

Who This Group Is For

The Alliance of Hope community welcomes anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide — at any stage of grief, in any relationship to the person who died. New members sometimes describe joining within days of their loss, while others find Alliance of Hope years later when something brings the grief back to the surface. The 24/7 asynchronous format makes the community particularly useful for survivors who need support at unpredictable hours — the 3 a.m. of grief, the hour before a holiday gathering, the moment a difficult anniversary arrives.

Why Peer Support Works

Suicide loss isolates in a particular way. The stigma around suicide can make others uncomfortable, well-meaning friends often don’t know what to say, and survivors can feel that no one outside their circumstance truly understands. Alliance of Hope answers that isolation directly — putting survivors in a community of thousands of others who do understand, available whenever they need it. Members often describe the forum as the first place they could be honest about what they were thinking and feeling.

How to Join

Alliance of Hope is free. Visit allianceofhope.org to create an account, browse the forum, and start participating. The site also includes a directory of support groups, a library of articles, and information about Alliance of Hope’s other programs. All forum participation is confidential within the community. If you are in crisis right now, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7 by call or text.
